Girona with a shock result against Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid

In a thrilling match that saw both teams give their all, Real Madrid and Girona played to a 1-1 draw.

In the second half, Real Madrid took the lead through a well-worked goal, but Girona fought back and equalized late on.

In the 1st of the match, Real Madrid showed their effectiveness in the box in the right half of the space, where Rodrygo, Valverde, Modric, and even Eduardo stepped up.

Rodrygo's shot touched the crossbar, while Modric's shot went slightly wide.

Even though Real Madrid had two chances to score, Girona's low and narrow block prevented them from having many clear-cut chances.

The young Brazilian Vinicius has been one of Madrid’s most exciting players this season but he was largely anonymous in the first half against Girona.

That all changed after the break as he began to come inside off the left flank and look for pockets of space between Girona’s defence and midfield.

In the process, he dragged defenders out of position and created openings for others. He also started to get on the ball more often and have a greater impact on the game.

It took until the 70th minute for Real Madrid to break the deadlock against Girona, with Vinicius finding the back of the net.

Valverde did well to find some space on the right hand side of the box and put in a dangerous cross, which was met by Vinicius. The Brazilian forward made no mistake, sliding into an empty net.

Cristhian Stuani may have only been on the pitch for a matter of minutes, but that didn't stop him from having a major impact on the game.

The former Middlesbrough man came on as a substitute and proceeded to score from the penalty spot.

Madrid had plenty of chances to win the game, but were met with a barrage of Girona players defending deep.

In the 90th minute of the match, Kroos was shown a second yellow card and sent off. Kroos will now miss Real Madrid's next match, which is a big blow to the team.

Cristhian Stuani's latest goal ensured that Girona would leave with a share of the points, as they held Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw.
